About 1.8 million children have a parent in the state or federal prison, 65% of women in the state prison are mothers, and 55% are fathers.

CNPI reporter Julia Paul of Families For Freedom sat down with Sharon Content, the founder of Children of Promise, a NYC-based nonprofit committed to embracing and empowering children of incarcerated parents to break the cycle of inter-generational involvement in the criminal system.
